This paper analyses the scientific contribution by Luciano Gallino in the light of his influence on organizational studies in Italy. In particular, we present our interpretation of Gallino’s critical and theoretical thoughts as a sort of compass to orient ourselves in the jungle of organizational theories and paradigms. Furthermore, our contribution aims at focusing on Gallino’s inspirational considerations on the crucial topic of responsability/irresponsibility of firms and organizations. In this sense, the double role played by Gallino both as a scientist and as a consultant in one of the most bright experiences of responsible firms in Italy (Olivetti) represents one of the most interesting dimensions from our perspective of organizational theorists.
Keywords: Organizational theories, critical management studies, organizational responsibility.
