Performance measurement and clear and transparent communication to all stakeholders are important issues for public healthcare organizations. This because of the social value of health needs and the huge amount of resources used for the public health sector. In this context, the online publication of the "Performance report" introduced by Legislative Decree no. 150/2009 is of particular importance. This paper aims to verify, through a content analysis, whether the previously mentioned "Performance report" is an instrument capable of ensuring greater transparency on the results achieved by local healthcare organizations. The analysis highlights the importance given to the results obtained in terms of the type, volume and costs of services provided, with little attention paid to the other dimensions of perfor mance (effectiveness, efficiency, outcomes, appropriateness).
