Moving from the analysis of the most ancient fairytale in Japanese folklore, known as "Princess Kaguya", the Author reflects about the feminine spirituality, of fundamental importance in the woman’s psyche, but as of today stifled by sociocultural expectations and pressure imposed by a male world. Once rescued and rediscovered in its deeply spiritual dimension, female spirituality would restore the woman’s ability to relate with her "sacred spring", the pristine and authentic expression of self. Drawing from the linguistic imagery of the fairytale, the Author identifies in the various relations that Princess Kaguya establishes during the story an analogy with the capability of the feminine to connect with a number of psychic processes and archetypal representations. As a divine lunar creature, Princess Kaguya, with her virginal attribute, appears as the bearer of the sacred value of being "essentially all in herself"; achieving this condition will lead women, according to the Author, to a balanced relationship with their Animus and with man.
