Psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the elderly challenges the therapist to face with the deepest parts of her/himself. Through three clinical cases (one private counselling, one private psychotherapy and one private psychotherapy within the institution), the authors stress the importance of a slow and careful analytical construction while working with the elderly, being able to take time out right when you fear there is no more time.
Keywords: Elderly, psychoanalitic psychotherapy, setting, time, regression to dependence, institution.
