The paper deals with the results of the international public consultation of ideas on Via dei Fori Imperiali in Rome, launched and managed by the Accademia Adrianea di Architettura e Archeologia in collaboration with the Order of Architects of Rome, in the framework of 2016 Piranesi Prix de Rome. The author provides a critical analysis of the facts and some famous literary contributions that led, first to the creation, and then, to the proposed demolition of one of the most discussed boulevard, and at the same time the most extraordinary of the world’s cultural heritage. The paper then describes the main characters of all th project proposals, and ends with a four-point proposal for the structure of a future master plan to be subjected to a subsequent international competition aimed at the realization
