The analysis of the relationship linking cinematic production about fascism with the internal politics of the years from 1945 to the new millennium makes it possible to verify, on the one hand, the capacity of the cinematic medium, seen as a place of transit of social meanings, to accompany, sometimes preceding them, perhaps following them, the changes of thought and attitude that Italian society has been working towards in the "ventennio", and on the other hand to grasp how these changes are always linked in some way to actuality, to what had happened over the years, in Italy and abroad, and inevitably reverberated on the imaginary that the historical phenomenon of fascism was going to be built in parallel, and of which cinema was an essential component.
