Infant observation in different growth and caregiving environments proves the fecundity of the psychoanalytic gaze, which is never intrusive nor indiscreet. An example of the gap between knowledge founded on mere concepts and knowledge derived from carefully putting together observed data in an evercontinuing process. The two authors discuss transformational aspects in the mother-child relationship and highlight the value of the group as a very effective tool within their observational setting.
