The argument of this essay is that the sense and meaning of the academic practices, in the face of radical changes in economic, social and cultural forms of production and reproduction of knowledge, should be the center of a plurality of interdisciplinary research programs. This implies an analysis of the specific forms of writing and drawing that characterize education and training in architectural design and planning. In this conceptual framework it is possible to understand the difficult relations between the university and the ‘invisible powers’, the economic and social conditions within which take shape changes of the symbolic and material conditions of academic education.
