The Conference ‘Museums and cultural landscapes. The ecomuseums and community museums perspectives’, took place at the Politecnico di Milano in July 2016 during the XXIV icom Conference. It was an important meetings between operators who consider in the ecomuseum as a way of knowledge, protection, aware transformation and shared management of the territory, and it particularly emphasized the proactive role of ecomuseums in enhancing the cultural landscape. A year later, the article focuses on two ecomuseal experiences of the Milanese area - in Parabiago and the northern suburbs of Milan - and proposes the first results of a census of Italian ecomuseums, contributing to the creation of a national network
