Olimpia Mancini, one of the nieces of cardinal Julius Mazarinus known as Mazarinettes, has been a key figure, very much discussed, in Paris during the second half of the XVII century. The essay aims to frame her personality in the context of her family, analyzing her relationships with the sisters, with the French monarchy, with the House of Soissons and with her famous son Eugene of Savoy. The focus is mostly historiographical; particularly stressed are the links with Madrid and Olimpia’s European dimension.

Keywords: Mazarinette; French monarchy; Houses of Savoy and Soissons; family networks; Eugene of Savoy
