The purpose of this contribution is to provide an analysis on the food health of the people of the central Apennines affected by the earthquakes of 2016/2017. Specifically, the effects of the lifestyle transformations of the inhabitants of the towns of Amatrice and Accumoli are explored in the period after the event. The day after the occurrence of the first shocks, the emergency policies outline a scenario where a part of the population remains in the affected areas and the remaining portion is removed from their place of residence and transferred to the coast. The present study brings to light how the disruption of the experience generated by the disaster event, but also the institutional methods of management and assistance of the population, are at the base of a breakdown of the practices of daily life and previous nutritional habits, causing a widespread perception of discomfort on the part of the inhabitants that is taken in charge by the experts involved in the socio-territorial services.
Keywords: Disaster research; food patterns to health; public health; lifestyle; health and social safeguards; emergency intervention.
