Aim of the essay is to explore the history of the migrant housing in Italy paying attention at the different periods in which it developed. At the same time the text investigates the formation of a common wisdom abuot the question among the Italian scholars and its con-temporary crisis. Basically the problem of migrant’s house remains unsolved trough the years and seems to worsens in the latest years. The difficulty in finding an affordable house transforms itself in a sort of "sisiphean task". Many migrants are forced to squat and to live in improvised shelter.
Keywords: Migrants; housing pathways; crisis; squatting; improvised shelter; common wis-dom.
