Starting from the etymology of the word vanitas, the authors are in-tent to describe how it is expressed in clinical psychology referred to drug addiction. A clinical case, monitored in an institutional context, is described below. Finally, are made some observations about the use of drug as a search for meaning and an attempt to find solution to face primitive destructuring anxieties.
