Between 2017 and 2018 there have been many exhibitions in Germany dedicated to the German artistic avant-garde in the period running from the beginning of the century until 1933 and to its subsequent persecution by the Nazis (the so-called action against degenerate art). This commitment on the part of German museums is not new, but, on the eve of the centenary of the Republic of Weimar, some of the approaches proposed merit analysis.
