This paper investigates the relationship between unemployment and health for young adults. The empirical analysis is based on original data drawn from the CUPESSE European survey on youth unemployment, which was conducted in 2016 on a sample of more than 20,000 young adults (age 18-35) in 11 different countries. The results show the strong relationship between unemployment and health problems, and the categories of people most sensitive to unemployment. Particular attention is paid to the comparison between Italy and Switzerland, and on the policies implemented to address such a problem.
