Varese goes to war preparations for the intervention through the pages of «La Libertà». The preparation for the third war of independence in 1866 and the first moments of the conflict seen through the pages of the only sheet of Varese published at the time, «La Libertà». The enthusiasm of the population of Varese towards Garibaldi and his volunteers, the unconditional support of the newspaper to the company, but also the lack of preparation of the high-ranking army of the Savoy to face the war shines through. Leafing through the newspaper from n. 20 of May 6th to the last issue published, on the 28th of July 1st, we have a very vivid image of the climate that was perceived in Varese in those days.
