Based on three examples of transnational practices in the field of public health, and framing it into the Spanish context, this article discusses the challenges and opportunities related to health care. All three cases: 1) the presumed health tourism thanks to the European health card; 2) the cross-border practices that are carried out in Ceuta and Melilla and 3) the transnational public health strategies to pre-vent diseases such as Chagas, involve a transnational approach to advance to-wards health programs that are not focused on strict national territoriality. In short, they incorporate the transnational dimension in a coordinated and sustainable manner, with the state being one of the key actors of the "resource environment".
