This work seeks to analyze the landslide risk perception, using qualitative methods, in a village located in the inland areas of Calabria region, Maierato, affected by a landslide phenomenon in 2010. A structured questionnaire was administered to 200 citizens. Specifically, this study aimed to investigate i) the knowledge of land-slide and flood phenomena, the perception of exposure to risks (in particular land-slides, floods and earthquakes); ii) the factors perceived as influential on the trig-gering of the 2010 landslide and the ways in which the local community was af-fected by the disaster; iii) the information received from the citizens about the landslide risk and the satisfaction levels regarding the activities carried out by the authorities during the emergency and the eight years after the landslide event. The proposed research will help the authorities in the development and improvement of risk reduction strategies and planning activities in the territory to enhance the risk governance and communication between local policy-makers and citizens.
