What remains of the area-based initiatives of public housing regeneration? By shifting the attention from the policies to the actual implementation of an areabased programme and its long-term impacts, the paper comes back to the Progetto Speciale Periferie of Turin, often portrayed as a paradigmatic example in the Italian panorama. In doing so, the article re-weaves some unexplored threads of a story which could still have something to teach.
Keywords: Public housing; urban regeneration; neighbourhoods; public policies; knowledge capital.
