This essay will focus on the social exclusion of Roma second generations living in the "camps" in today’s Italy. Based on Nancy Fraser’s conceptualization of social exclusion as a matter of social injustice, which is defined by three dimensions (recognition, distribution and political participation), this article suggests that Italian law, policies and practices have particu-larly prevented Roma second generations from participating in society on equal foot with their peers. However, for some of them informal political participation has represented a site of re-sistance from where to start to raise awareness on the need to foster their social inclusion.
