The article reports an experience of primary care psychology intervention in Turin, in which the most relevant themes, the characteristics, strengths and criticalities of these projects are addressed. The intent is to provide information and data in order to further contribute to the debate within the scientific community leading to the creation of primary care psychology ser-vices at national level. The crucial aspects that characterize the model are presented, accessibility, graduality, clin-ical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. Accessibility since these services must be positioned on the territory, close to the places of life of the citizens, flexible and inclusive. Graduality since interventions must be appropriate as intensity with respect to health needs. Clinical effec-tiveness since it is essential to give the right treatment to the patient’s specific disorder. Cost-effectiveness since the interventions must be appropriate to the patient’s problem, timely in order to anticipate pathologisation and chronicity, and they must also act as a filter for second-ary services and emergency departments. Some results are also presented with respect to the medical cost offset of such interventions, in particular on the pre-post effects that the intervention generated on pharmacological prescriptions, number of items sent to specialist services, and number of visits to the family doctor. These projects in the most advanced international realities have been operating for a long time, and the recent events (Decreto Calabria) are a testimony of how necessary it is to realize these services. The author therefore brings some proposals to this effect.
