The text focuses on the evolution of the cinemaexhibition spaces assuming the exemplary case of CorsoVittorio Emanuele in Milan, the main street of the citycentre where most of the first-sight cinemas have settled.Through a chronological reconstruction from the early20th century to the present day, the different phases ofthe changes that took place are defined as symptomsof more general transformations of film consumptionhabits. The itinerary starts from the construction of themost luxurious movie palaces as Corso and Astra in thefirst forty years to move to the underground and elegantcinemas of the post-war period, to reach the maximumconcentration of the early 1970s and see the rapidcollapse in twenty years.
