What happens if, in an experiential Workshop within a theoretical Seminary, we dare to have the Symmetrical (Matte-Blanco, 1975) fusional aspect of being together as a human group and the Asymmetrical discerning aspect of professional scientific work co-exist? If, through a Setting based on the act of playing (Klein, 1932) and embraced with Bion’s rêverie, we accept to observe ourselves oscillate between Unity and Plurality, Intuition and Interpretation, the confusing caos of the continuous protomental and the structuring of discrete myths, identities, thoughts and meanings? The result could be a Workshop that melts the usual rules and logics into a creative analytic game, able to accept chaos as the quintessential ludic matter, a Workshop-Neverland where we can oscillate between Peter Pan and Captain Hook, dreamers and thinkers, group and individuals. The article intends to share the experience of such a Workshop, carried out and experienced, with the support of clinical material too, within the International Seminary on Bion in Barcelona (2020). The authors intend to take the readers, with a style analogically mixing different languages, Fields and disciplines, to the "insane asylum" of the Workshop group caught in its attempt of becoming a group able to accept, manage and understand its multilevel confusion ("I" within "Us", "Workshop" within "Seminar", the Group oscillating between Basic Assumptions and Work Group) and develop its own identity and role within the Seminar, perhaps also dialoguing with the latter by learning how to distinguish its voice emerging from the happenings and associations traversing synchronically both the Workshop group as well as the Seminar as a whole. With this article the authors hope to show the fundamental importance of reflecting on the very nature of Workshops and Seminars as Settings, and on how to structure them so as to have them be a coherent and proactive part both of research work and of the analytic experience in general.
