The criminalisation of search et rescue NGO solidarity has been an issue of signifi-cant political and media importance during the "long summer of migration" in Eu-rope. PROEM-AID, a small NGO founded in 2015 by firefighters from Seville (An-dalusia, Spain), has developed search et rescue activities on the coast of Lesvos, in the Aegean Sea, and in the central Mediterranean. Based on the case study of the NGO and the accusation of human trafficking suffered by three PROEM-AID volunteers, the paper analyses the criminalisation of solidarity networks in the Mediterranean. This article is the result of ethnographic research conducted in 2017 and 2019 in Seville.
