The urban regeneration processes are sometimes mainly linked to energy and seismic im-provements of the single buildings. These practices seem to be still ineffective on the re-functionalization of underused public spaces, on social inclusion and on linking relationships and networks at urban and regional level. Over the past fifteen years, France has launched the so-called Urbanisme Transitoire projects intended as facilitators for the redevelopment of cities and local identity. This approach, counting on multi-year programs, supports the birth of collaborative communities in extremely flexible sharing environments in order to increase the sense of local identity and the cultural and creative offers. The potential of the French model would generate, if properly applied also in Italy, new planning models capable of in-novating urban areas with low quality of living and poor social cohesion.
