The phenomenon of human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation is constantly evolving as regards characteristics and distribution. The aim of this contribution is to give a current photograph of the Italian scenario relating to sex trafficking. In this regard, we will present the results of the analyzes conducted on the data collected by the SIRIT system and a case study with Nigerian women vic-tims of sex trafficking hosted in the reception programs. The main results show the decrease in people inserted in shelters and outdoor prostitution, the growing of the digital platforms’ use in the exercise of the sex trade, and the presence of Nigerian indoor prostitution practiced even in the absence of a forced relationship with the exploiters.
Keywords: forced prostitution; digital environment; sexual trafficking; indoor; Italy; Nigerian model.
