The article presents the results of a research about the volunteering of immigrant people, engaged in associations not ethnically connoted, composed of mixed nationalities or mainly Italians. The survey investigated the motivations and paths that led people to choose a solidarity commitment, the ways in which this pro-social activity is profuse, the critical issues encountered and the effects of these practices in the life of the subjects. In particular, did you try to grasp the links between immigration, volunteering and citizenship, trying to understand what distinguishes these social practices as citizenship practices? What does all this mean from the point of view of the individual? Different dimensions have emerged connected to the concept of citizenship practices: volunteering is a way to make one's contribution to the society in which one lives, but at the same time to feel part of it, feel accepted, find one's place beyond stereotypes that often affect migrants, claim dignity, respect and social recognition as a citizien.
Keywords: volunteering; immigration; acts of citizenship.
