In this article, the author describes some phases of the psychotherapeutic expe-rience of a schizoid patient with particular reference to some aspects relating to the theme of the body and change. In particular, the difficulty, for this patient, of «es-tablishing the psyche in the body» (Di Benedetto, 2017), is highlighted, due to the relationship with a mother who, unable to process the "original mourning" related to a psychic separation from the child, continues to maintain over time an engag-ing relationship with him, through which he seems to nullify all his potential for au-tonomy and growth. The patient’s attempts to put living parts into play in some of his friends’ relationships or to reach greater levels of separateness from the mother figure, arouse in him anxieties of loss and fragmentation that induce him to retrace his steps.
Keywords: schizoid, incestual, corporeality, mind-body dissociation, narcissistic family, intrusive relationship.
