Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative di- sease after Alzheimer’s disease, with a number of cases set to increase in the future. It is a disease that presents a complex picture of symp- toms, which includes motor and non-motor aspects, which can have a very negative impact on the quality of life. Scientific studies in recent years show that the multidisciplinary approach is essential for maintaining and improving the functions most affected by the disease. The multidisciplinary approach requires the presence of a team consisting of neurologists, cardiologists, urologists, physiotherapists, speech therapi- sts, neuropsychologists, nurses; the team needs a coordinator who has interdisciplinary clinical knowledge to be able to have a global vision of the level of health of the patient and his entire family, whose involve- ment is important for the good level of recovery. The coordinator must also be able to distinguish symptoms closely related to the disease and symptoms caused by other pathological or dysfunctional situations, in order to optimize therapeutic interventions. Rehabilitation in PD deals with neuromotor re-education, speech and swallowing therapy, cogniti- ve functions and emotional aspects of the patient and family members. These disciplines do not intervene separately but require a continuous exchange, giving space to the more urgent rehabilitation component compared to others.
