In this paper, the author proposes how interesting it is to combine S. Freud’s drive concept on sublimation with the theoretical position of S. Ferenczi, which connotes the concept of sublimation with an added value: a capacity that the analyst places at the service of the patient in a kind of work of sublimation, sublimated solidarity. This can be found in several of his articles in which he highlights how, in the complexity of the relationship between analyst and patient, there are functional aspects to the treatment that are not theorized. The work of sublimation in the session implies a work of the sym-bolization of the analytic couple, in which the analyst medium (by S. Ferenczi) and the malleable medium of (by R. Roussillon), contributing to such symbolic formations, carry out a fundamental task. Work with patients is mentioned where there are no symbolic representations, bringing a clinical flash.

Keywords: the work of sublimation, the work of symbolization, malle-able medium, free association, representations, use of the object.
