Hedwig Conrad-Martius is one of the best-known women phenomenologists, who developed a phenomenological ontology, anthropology, and philosophy of nature. Starting from the description of reality and, in particular, of phenomenal differences between plants, animals, and humans, Conrad-Martius looks for ontological categories able to ground and account for such differences and the specificity of human spiritual dimension. An ‘ecologi¬cal’ and ‘holistic’ concept of human being - thought of as a part of nature which emerges from it at the same time - is among the original results of this analysis, as shown in the work Metaphysical Dialogues, one of the first testimonies of Conrad-Martius’ research.
