The brief contribution summarizes the institutionalization of the Early modern Sabaudian Foreign policy. The importance of diplomacy was clear since the reconquista of Emmanuel-Philibert and it was the pivot of Charles-Emmanuel I’s expansionary policy, even though it not ha-ving a well-defined structure. In 1717 Victor-Amadeus II issued the edict that formed the Secretariat of State for Foreign Affairs. It had the task of organizing and managing Sabaudian foreign policy. This secre-tariat was revised in 1742, but it was not substantially modified.
Keywords: Diplomacy; Institutions; Sabaudian States; Secretariat of Foreign Affairs.
