Carlo Capra, who is now 84 and was one of the founders of “Società e storia” in 1978, has agreed to answer a few questions concerning his scholarly and teaching experien- ce. Among other themes, he reflects on the relationship between the 18th and 19th cen- turies in Italian history;; and while acknowledging the merits of original research he points out the need of also writing for the general public.
