This research aims to highlight the role of television, radio and newsreels in shaping Italian public opinion among Fifties and Sixties. These two industries were strictly connected with the political and economic establishment of the time. These media oriented politically their audience showing a country which was taking the lead in technological and scientific development. Their representation of Italy helped the government to reach a large consensus among the population regarding its goals. They also took part in defining a new democratic identity fit for the evolving context of the cold war era.

Keywords: Cold war Italy, technological and scientific development, newsreels, Rai, television, radio.
