This article focuses on the potential offered by the PGIS tool in the field of participatory planning, through the “Needle Scampia” case study. The goal of the project -funded by MIBACT under the “Creative Living Lab” call for proposals- was the regeneration of an area within the working-class neighborhood of Scampia, a northern suburb of Naples. In particu-lar, we wondered how the actors involved in this process addressed the issues of urban regen-eration, and what were the limitations and potentials in the use of the PGIS.
Keywords: PGIS, Needle Scampia, urban regeneration, urban acupunture, participatory plan-ning, community engagement
