A phenomenon that originated with the diffusion of the social network is that of challenges, or challenges shared on the Web and launched to other users, often with tragic consequences. These acts, often underestimated due to their volatility, are capable of producing very serious consequences, particularly on adolescents. Based on the analysis of the genesis and dynamics of these “deviant” manifesta-tions, the objective of this article is to analyze the contents of some videos focused on dangerous challenges, in order to identify their recurring characteristics and at-tempt to build a classification, trying to identify the potential levers that make online challenges a phenomenon as viral as it is risky.
Keywords: dangerous social challenge; digital natives; social network; risk; dig-ital narcissism; digital communities.
