Every discussion on psychology applied to healthcare cannot ignore a reflection on the conditions of our NHS and the proposal of adequate interventions to resolve its innumerable critical issues. If health psychologists do not take on this task, their work is destined to prove useless or even harmful, because it fuels the illusion that it is possible to carry out their profes-sion regardless of the structural characteristics of the social context in which they operate.
