Labor exploitation affects the weakest social groups more violently. Migrant people are at increased risk of exploitation due to normative, institutional, social and cultural factors that create isolation, power inequalities, and enhanced relational poverty. How has institutional communication approached the issue of labor exploitation with reference to migration? After examining the main information campaigns promoted in Italy over the past 15 years, the paper presents the views of members of different diasporic associa-tions in the territory in relation to their level of awareness of those same cam-paigns. The paper presents also their perceptions about labor exploitation and their availability to collaborate with institutions to oppose the exploitation of labor and to give visibility to “immigrant people/workers, unaware” of their rights.
Keywords: labor exploitation; communication campaigns; diaspora; migration.
