The article analyses the discursive practices of territorial stigma in media coverage of two news events that occurred in the Quarticciolo neighbourhood (Rome). In media discourse, stigma is constructed through the naturalization and normalization of violence, which thus becomes an intrinsic quality of daily life. At the same time, the journalistic narratives reveal articulated strategies of adaptation and resistance to stigma by the inhabitants.

Keywords: territorial stigma; marginality; city; media discourse; security.
