Since the 1990s, migration in the Euro-Mediterranean area has been characterised by avoidable deaths, suffering, and violence. This article aims to address the reasons behind this human, political, and ethical crisis with two objectives. The second is to acknowledge that such outcomes could be prevented through alternative immigration policies, such as granting visas and providing accessible entry procedures.
