In recent times, cities and territories are increasingly at risk of drought and desertification due to both the effects of climate change and the disservices in resource management. This study addresses the difficult management of water resources in Sicily, an island heavily urbanized and fragile hydrogeologically which, more than other regions of Italy, is suffering from the water crisis.

Keywords: water; water resources; dams; drought; climate change.
