Günther Anders’ relationship with Heideggerian philosophy is characterized by a strong ambiguity from the very beginning. Initially as a Heidegger student and subsequently as a detractor, Anders would remain forever linked, volens nolens, to the Heideggerian approach, although he criticizes its anthropocentric premises and the philosopher’s authoritarian tendencies. Heidegger’s participation in National Socialism and his compromise with the politics of the Reich represent, from Anders’ point of view, more than a formality. In fact, Anders denounces the philosophical relevance of Heidegger’s political choice, criticizing the categories of Sein und Zeit’s existential analytics and accusing it of «pseudoconcreteness». Despite this, the dialogue with Heideggerism would remain fundamental for Anders during his entire philosophical career as a sort of general “background”.

Keywords: Günther Anders, Martin Heidegger, pseudoconcreteness, technique, National Socialism, Existentialism.
