The author correlates the spatial justice issues with the topics related to different forms of educational inequality in Milan. The city of Milan have been characterized by an increasing segmentation in the student population, which not only reflects the existing social and spatial differentiation in the urban population, but also inserts new forms of social segregation that are specifically related to individual choices. The research follows a double approach: an inquiry on the dynamics in the urban environment; and an action-research in a specific school with a large number of foreign students. The article uses three interpretative lenses to link spatial justice issues and school segregation phenomena: the conflict space; the welfare space; and the space of collective responsibilities.
Keywords: Spatial justice, school segregation, Milan, social inequalities, Cadorna school, San Siro neighborhood.
