The Author examines the regulation of stakeholder involvement in social enterprises, contained in sect. 11, legislative decree n. 112/2017, in the light of guidelines by the Labour Minister of 7 September 2021. Amongst the strong points, there is the presence of codeter-mination mechanisms, whereas amongst the weaknesses the exclusion of social cooperatives, which are automatically social enterprises by law, from the application field of sect. 11. The article ends with an overall positive evaluation: social enterprises can play a useful role as forerunners in the experimentation of ambitious participative forms, which may afterwards be extended by legislation to the rest of the economy.
