Nel suo significato alternativo, il termine “plasticità” arricchisce la lettura e la critica dell’architettura di una profondità “intima”, che coinvolge la “sensibilità statica” di chi osserva, giudica e progetta. Associato alla città, il termine dà origine a una forma specifica di lettura progettuale e di composizione urbana: la capacità di cogliere e trasformare le forze che danno forma allo spazio attraverso la costruzione. Inoltre, la plasticità aiuta a comprendere lo stretto rapporto tra l’uomo e la materia che lo circonda: un rapporto primordiale, che oggi tende a scomparire, sommerso dai valori di una società rivolta solo al presente.

This volume sparks from an initial interdisciplinary study published in 2018, to describe the “5 facets” of meat sustainability: nutrition, environmental impacts and the application of the circular economy to livestock and industry, food safety and animal welfare, the economic aspects of supply chains and the fight against food waste. Five years later, a revision by the authors has permitted the publication of this new text, which delves deeper and elucidates the significant recent scientific and technological innovations most recently emerged.

Questo catalogo è l’esito della mostra “LA COSA PUBBLICA. Salute, Lavoro e Società nelle collezioni storiche dell’Università e del Politecnico di Torino” (10 novembre 2022 – 5 gennaio 2023): preziose collezioni scientifiche e tecnologiche sono state condivise con il pubblico in un percorso narrativo multidisciplinare che ha inteso contestualizzare il ruolo di primo piano svolto da Torino a cavallo tra Ottocento e Novecento quale laboratorio sociale d’avanguardia.

The book collects the results of several research projects held at Department ICEA (University of Padua) focused on prefabricated buildings analysis and innovative strategies for refurbishment. This work aims to suggest a methodology leading to an analysis of prefabricated buildings, focusing especially on Soviet I-464 and I-464A series (widely popular in former European socialist countries) enact a sustainable refurbishment of the buildings. The volume is part of a collection – within the “Edilizia” editorial series – dedicated to the topics of prefabrication and building industrialization in the twentieth century.

The issue of empathy as an embodied, dialogic experience that potentially enhances the value of human relationships, constitutes the core of this book, which is mainly addressed to explore whether empathy is designable and how. This book traces a theoretical framework for changing perspective on empathy in design, by integrating a phenomenological account. One that focuses on empathy's specific nature of intersubjective experience that introduces the other into one’s own personal horizon.
