The article discusses the way in which the Italian side has handled the problem of "reconciliation" between Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, after the end of the Cold War: in this period it has grown a strong demand for history about events which in previous years had been partially neglected. The author compares two models, which inspired the Italian political institutions at different times. The first model is that of the delegation to the experts, which resulted in the constitution of historical and cultural Italian-Slovenian and Italian-Croatian Commissions, and which was applied between the early nineties and the beginning of the next decade. The second model is that of memorials days, which has resulted in the institution in 2004 of the "Day of Remembrance".
