Multidimensional aspects of parenting abilities - After briefly outlining the theoretical approaches that have studied the topic of parenting, thus highlighting the lack of a single comprehensive theory on the different aspects involved, the present work aims to facilitate the clini-cian and researcher in parenting assessment. The aspects that can be as-sessed are grouped into three main areas of investigation (skills and performances, representations, interactions) which unfold in the study and evaluation of parenting duties. The description of some instruments for each area has the additional theoretical applicative purpose of exemplifying the kind of assessment that can be obtained. Overall, the analysis carried out on the literature highlights the wealth of information that can be exami-ned, but at the same time a variety of issues remains open to further investi-gation.
