Given the heightened awareness of the consistency and the impact of violent sexual behaviors, and the difficulties that the penal system is facing in responding to this phenomenon, some structured practices (later incorporated in the recommendation of recent international conventions) specifically addressing youth sex offenders have been established. The present research aims to analyze how the Juvenile Penal Court of Milan is responding to these challenges and to verify the existence of specific projects and treatments. We therefore analyzed the prescriptive content and the evolution of probation projects for the rehabilitation, care and re-socialization of the juvenile sex offenders. From a quantitative point of view, we ascertained the characteristics of these subject and we analyzed how the judges deal with the different cases. Secondly, from a qualitative point of view, we investigated the methods of these projects, how they are activated and implemented and what are their effects. In addition, we tried to understand how the different subjects experience their projects. Finally, we offered two examples of methodologies implemented in other European countries.
