This paper is an attempt to demonstrate that consumption has a central role in the contemporary societies. In fact, according to Zygmunt Bauman’s opinion, in the society of liquid modernity individuals are shaped mainly as consumers. The paper is also an attempt to demonstrate that in the Bauman’s research activity the consumption was an essential theme. Then, the paper analyzes how Bauman explains the social role of the consumption places.
