The essay sketches the history of relationship between audiences and cinema in Milan, through four case studies: the construction of a film viewing ‘relocated’ model, during 1950s; the emergence of a twilight experience of cinema, during the second half of 1960s; the resurrection of moviegoing at the end of the 1990s, and the affirmation of a diffused experience of movies; and, finally, the most recent rise of a widespread film experience, prompted by the spread of the digital platforms as Netflix and by a really film spectator metamorphose. Four moments that announced and induced nationwide changes.
